Join Me for a Special Workshop at the Colne Valley Museum!

Updated: Jul 6

Hi there, friends!

I’m excited to share some news about my upcoming workshop. I’m teaming up with my childhood teacher at the Colne Valley Museum in Golcar, Huddersfield. Can you believe it?

A Blast from the Past

It all started with my favorite schoolteacher, Miss Hartley. She taught me 50 years ago, and wow, what a journey it’s been! She was my hero back then, always there for me. I loved her to bits! We hadn’t seen each other in ages, but we bumped into each other at a recent 70th birthday celebration. We laughed and reminisced, but I was saddened to hear she had been fighting the big C. Bless her! She’s always been so full of sass and never let life get her down.

Miss Hartley asked if I would join her at the museum for a craft fair. She was impressed with what I’ve achieved and wanted me to share my story and demonstrate my jumbo products. How could I say no? But here’s the thing—I usually don’t do workshops. I worry that not many will believe in me, and I lack the confidence to run a class. But she nattered at me, and I finally gave in!

What to Expect

So, will you come along and join in? It would mean the world to both of us! Plus, I promise you’ll be fascinated by this little museum. It’s unique, run purely by volunteers and filled with love. The memories it evokes in people are truly fascinating. Skills that are fading away are brought back to life here. They even spin and weave their own cloth on an amazing old handloom from a weaver’s cottage in the area. I hope to learn that craft when I retire!

The museum is underrated, spanning over three weaver’s cottages. They invite school children to dress in authentic clothing and visit. We can all learn how our ancestors engaged in various cottage working-class pursuits dating back to the 1800s. From baking bread to weaving and rag rugging, there’s so much to discover! The history is alive and waiting for you to see. This wonderful place is crammed with artifacts from different ages and filled with lovely people who have stories to tell.

Workshop Details

I feel privileged to run my workshop here. I want to share this wonderful experience with you! Join me on the 25th of July from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. It’s only £45, which includes everything you need to make my cute bag. You’ll get to use all my tools on the day. Of course, if you want to purchase any tools, that’s entirely up to you! But you’ll get to take home the bag you make with me.

Oh, and don’t forget to come early! There’s a tearoom with homemade cakes waiting for you. Yum!

I can’t wait to see you there! Book your place here!

Love,

Juey
