Hi Guys,
I just want to let you know about my upcoming workshop I am collaborating with my childhood teacher and local museum the Colne Valley Museum in Golcar, Huddersfield
I got involved because of my favourite schoolteacher who taught me 50 years ago, wow. Miss Hartley she was then, who was my hero as a little one. She was the one I always remember being there for me. Everything she taught me I never forgot. I just loved her to bits. We hadn’t seen each other for a while & bumped into each other at a recent 70th birthday celebration. We couldn’t stop laughing catching up, I was upset to hear she had been very sick fighting the big C. But bless her, I always remembered her for being so much fun and she never let life get her down, always full of sass was Miss Hartley.
She asked if I would join her at the museum as they were doing a craft fair. She was so impressed with what I had achieved & would I tell my story also demonstrate my jumbo products. Well I couldn't say no to her it would be impossible. However, I never do workshops because not many people will believe me, but I don’t have the confidence & discipline to run a class. But she nattered at me and I gave in...
So will you come along and join in? It will mean so much to us both, also I promise you will be fascinated with this little museum, it is so unique being manned purely by volunteers and love. It's amazing it is here, the memories it provokes in people is fascinating, the skills that are being lost are put to use here. Spinning & weaving their own cloth on an amazing old handloom that used to be at work in a weaver’s cottage of the area (I hope to learn when I retire).
The museum is so underrated running over 3 weaver’s cottages, they invite school children to dress in authentic clothing and visit, we can all learn how our ancestors did various cottage working class pursuits dating back to 1800 from baking bread, weaving, rag rugging so much more. The history is here to see for yourself. This wonderful place is crammed with artefacts from ages & filled with lovely people with stories to tell.
I am privileged to be asked to run my workshop here. I want to share this wonderful experience with you. On the 25th of July 12.30-2.30pm, it’s only £45 which includes everything you need to make my cute bag. You will get the chance to use all my tools on the day. Of course if you want to purchase that’s entirely up to you. But you will get to take home your new bag that you learn to make with me. Oh and come early tha's a tearoom with homemade cakes.
Cannot wait to see you https://www.colnevalleymuseum.org.uk/events/crescent-bag-workshop/
